Online Chinese Dance Classes from 25th January 2021

  • Monday 3:00pm-4:00pm: Chinese Classical Dance <<放灯行>>. Intermediate or above. 

  • Monday 5:00pm-6:00pm: Chinese Han Tang Dance (Han Dynasty) <<清平乐>>. All levels.  

  • Tuesday 3:00pm-4:00pm: Chinese Classical Dance <<半壶纱>>. All levels.  

  • Tuesday 3:00pm-4:00pm: Chinese Classical Dance(Han Dynasty) <<采薇舞>>. All levels.

           Prop: water sleeves (水袖).

  • Tuesday 5:00pm-6:00pm: Chinese Classical Dance (Tang Dynasty) <<美人关>>. All levels.

           Prop: pibo (披帛), a light silk fabric accessory on ancient women's clothing

  • Wednesday 4:00pm-5:00pm: Fusion Belly Dance. All levels.  

  • Thursday 11:00am-12:00pm: Body Sculpt and Tone Workout. All Levels.

  • Thursday 3pm-4pm: Chinese Tibetan Dance <<我的九寨>>. All levels.

  • Thursday 5pm-6pm: Chinese Modern Dai Dance <<彩云之南>>.Intermediate or above.

  • Thursday 7pm-8pm: Chinese Dai Dance <<孔雀舞>>. All levels.

All group classes are £10/per hour, with an average continues 10 lessons to complete a dance.

One-to-one classes are available on request, £35/per hour.

Important Update: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Following the government’s recent announcement asking the nation to stay at home, all in-person dance classes were suspended to protect the public.

From 6th April 2020 all dance classes have been taught online via Zoom. Regular classes currently running are listed below. All of these classes are taught in English. If you have special requirements, please contact Aubretia Dance studio via email.

From each class, we have one Star Student showcase their work here. Congratulations!

  • Our Chinese Folk Dance online class ( 26th April - 28th June 2021) Star Student, Miss Nadia Tan from Netherlands, completed Dai dance and this is her showcase!
  • Our Chinese Classical Dance online class (12th May - 16th June 2020) Star Student, Ms. Daiqian Chen from London UK, completed Fang Deng Xing and this is part of her showcase!
  • Our Chinese Folk Dance online class ( 7th February - 28th April 2020) Star Student, Ms. Sandra Lehmann from Germany, completed Tibetan dance and this is her showcase!
  • Our Chinese Han Tang Dance online class (23rd June - 28th July 2020) Star Student, Ms. Stella Qian Cheng from Birmingham UK, completed Qing Ping Yue and this is her showcase!

Online Chinese Dance Classes 2020

  • Sunday 12:30pm-1:30pm: Chinese Dance Class, Suitable for Intermediate level.
  • Monday 3:00pm-4:00pm: Chinese Square Dance Class, suitable for elementary level.
  • Thursday 5pm-6pm: Chinese Dance Class, Intermediate and Advanced class suitable for performing level.

Class structure

A typical class starts with a warm-up, stretching and/or ballet basics depends on level, to prepare and condition body, improve strength and flexibility, follows by Chinese classical dance basics Shenyun (身韵) and techniques depends on level, then a portion of a performing dance depends on which level and could be completed by continuously attending the consequent classes.

On 17th June 2019, Ms. Lijun Bi was filmed by the BBC1. She was featured of teaching Chinese classical dance in the London Chinese Community Centre (伦敦华人中心). The documentary is titled: A Very British History: The British Chinese.

It was broadcast on 3rd February 2020 on BBC1.

Elementary class descriptions

Elementary classes are in introduction level, it suits those who have little or no dance experience, as well as who wanted to pick up dance from times ago and/or progress into next level. This class is designed to build up to performing level.

Intermediate & Advanced class descriptions

Intermediate and advanced classes are for those who have dance experience and wish to improve and challenge themselves in more difficult movements, rhythm and techniques of Chinese dances. This class is designed for performing level.
